Derby Women’s 1st XI suffered a disappointing defeat as were beaten 7-1 by Loughborough Women’s 2nd XI at Kedleston Road.
The hosts got off to a flying start and opened the scoring with just 10 minutes on the clock through Sarah Essam-Hassanin who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
The away side then woke up and began to create some good chances, however a collection of great saves kept them at bay.
Derby responded to the opposition’s improvement by changing formation from 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2 in order to try and get a second goal.
However, despite the formation change, Loughborough got a goal back in the 14th minute. Bethany Beale then rounded off a cagey first half to put the visitors in front at the break.
On the hour mark, Loughborough got their third, this time through Madeline Fox and the home side struggled to contain a rampant attack from there on.
The visitors went on to score four, two of them coming from Sarah Brown who completed a terrific performance for Loughborough.
Derby will hope to bounce back immediately on their trip to local rivals Nottingham Trent University.
