Derby Men’s 3rd XI 14-0 Harper Adams Men’s 1st XI: Hosts begin 2020 with emphatic victory

Derby Men’s 3rd XI started the new year off in the perfect way against Harper Adams Men’s 1st XI as they secured a 14-0 victory.
The visitors were without a recognised goalkeeper for the fixture while Sam Cooke missed out for the hosts but his void was filled brilliantly by Morgan Schuler.
Derby started the stronger of the teams and after 15 minutes, Alex Goodall took advantage of a defensive mistake to put his side ahead. That lead was soon doubled as Tino ran onto a pinpoint pass from Schuler and slid into the back of the net.
Goodall was the first to acknowledge Harper Adams’ bleak goalkeeper situation and pounced on a short goal kick to score his second of the game, putting the result almost beyond doubt after just half an hour. Tino was going goal-for-goal with his attacking partner as he grabbed a brace of his own with another composed finish.
The visiting side squandered one of their very few chances and were made to pay instantly by a ravenous Goodall who completed his hat-trick in some style before the hard-working Kallum Kirk put Derby 6-0 up on the stroke of half time.
The scorer of the sixth became the scorer of the seventh as he nipped in to steal the ball before rifling past a goalkeeper who had only stepped between the sticks during the interval.
More lacklustre defending led to yet another goal with Andrew Magnus-George being given all the time in the world to finish after he had raced onto a huge goal kick that eluded the visitors’ defence. Kirk joined the hat-trick club moments later as his goalbound effort deflected over the goalkeeper to make it 9-0.
The home side’s dominance was relentless and continued into the closing stages of the match where they managed five more goals to conclude a historical afternoon for Derby Men’s football.
