Derby Men’s 5th XI 3-0 Leicester Men’s 4th XI: Hosts continue to turn their season around with convincing win

Derby Men’s 5th XI won for the second week in a row as they recovered from a difficult start to beat Leicester Men’s 4th XI 3-0 on Wednesday at Kedleston Road.
Substitute James Wilson scored the clinching goal for Derby in the 78th minute after a decisive through ball. The goal capped off a brilliant second-half display from Derby in which they dominated.
It was not all so straightforward, however. The breakthrough for the home side came in the last minute of a challenging first half when a cross from the right wing found Tino Mtangadura whose deflected shot looped up and over the stranded goalkeeper.
Derby started the second half where they left off in the first and in the 61st minute, Morgan Schuler ran through on goal and slotted past the onrushing keeper. As soon as the second goal went in it was clear to see that Leicester had lost belief and were content to sit back for the duration of the contest.
The hosts were the more clinical of the two teams and with little over 10 minutes left, the win was secure with Wilson capping off a strong attacking performance for his side who have surged up the table with back-to-back victories.
Next up for the 5th XI is a difficult test at home against De Montfort Men’s 4th XI next Wednesday.
