Pushing Myself
Ever since I completed my first-class presentation a couple of weeks back, I’ve been thinking that I should try and challenge myself more.
Since starting university last year, I have fell into a pretty comfortable routine, and while I enjoy this, I haven’t really tried to pursue different opportunities or pushed myself into trying something new.
After getting over my initial nerves for the presentation, it’s raised my confidence a little and so I’m hoping I get chance to try some new things. For example, I could potentially get involved with some GCSE revision sessions the university is holding revolving around Creative Writing and English topics. I don’t know the full details of this at the minute, but I wouldn’t have even considered getting involved before.
Because one career of interest to me is teaching, I thought this could be really beneficial to me, and while I’m almost certain it involves me at least partially presenting, I’m determined to at least strongly consider taking advantage of this opportunity.
I’ve received notice from the university of plenty of activities and things in the last few months. I have not taken to time to give any of them a go due to factors such as nerves and worry, so my aim for the next couple of months is to give things a go.
I definitely have room to grow more at uni (cheesiness of this aside) , and improve my skills such as communication. I hope this will be the first step in the right direction for me to become more confident. If I can get over the first barrier then I know ill be able to push myself more in the future.
