Why You Should Start Your Own Blog
Have you ever thought about writing a blog but never known the benefits of doing so? If so, then you’re in luck as here is a post outlining a few. Writing a blog is sort of like writing a diary, but instead, its online and you can write about whatever you like and a wide range of topics. It’s also a great way to get your name out here online, depending on what sort of job you’re hoping for in the future, having an online presence could be an important factor. Below I’ve outlined 5 benefits on the benefits of writing a blog!
- It’s genuinely enjoyable
Like I mentioned at the start of this article, it’s like writing a diary but you’re sharing it online for everyone to read. When these posts start getting a lot of views and interactions, it’s an amazing feeling because people are genuinely interested in what you have to say! You can also choose any topic you like to write about, there’s no limits or boundaries.
- It can double as a job
Like mentioned in point 1, when the blog starts getting popular, gaining likes, comments and lots of views, this gets noticed by search engines and you can begin to earn ad revenue off of your blog posts. Meaning that as long as writing about whatever you please, you’re getting paid to do so! There are also other ways that you can earn money from a blog, this being collaborating with brands. Depending on your blog content, brands may contact you to review their products, something which (as you get bigger) you can charge for.
- Build skills (writing, website design)
The more you write, the better you get at it. So if you’re writing blog posts on a regular basis, your writing skills improve. Depending on what platform you start your blog on, whether it be WordPress, Blogger etc., a lot of companies themselves use these platforms themselves to host their website. So with the editing and frequent updating of your website, you’ll gain website design skills, which is a good transferable skill to have nowadays!
- Make connections
As mentioned previously, when your blog starts to get bigger you will catch the attention of business who may approach you to collaborate. These could be contacts that you keep for future work, depending on your career line you may even keep these contacts for maybe an internship, placement etc.! However, networking doesn’t necessarily mean just working with companies, from blogging you could meet other fellow bloggers who you could collaborate with (for example a guest blog post!), and from this your own blog could benefit, gaining more views.
- Share your opinions and make a difference
As you can write about whatever you feel like, you could use your platform to voice your ideas, thoughts and feelings about any topic that you like. Whether this be anything from politics to cooking, there’s always someone who’s going to read what you say! This is also a good way of educating others as you’re sharing your knowledge on the chosen subject.
I hope that you found these 5 benefits helpful and they encourage you to start your own blog! If you liked this post, please check out my blog at www.therachrecord.wordpress.com.
