Maccies is Coming to Kedleston Road!
By Steph Compton, Head of The Phantom
Yes, you heard right. Ronald McDonald is setting up digs at our campus. Can I get a hallelujah?
The University of Derby is ever-expanding, and they are taking things one step further. McDonald’s will be taking over the coffee shop space in the Sports Centre. Now you can go to Rugby practice or for a cheeky gym session, then indulge in a Big Mac meal. Or a Happy Meal, whatever floats your boat. What better motivation for a workout than some good, greasy food?
As if Kedleston Road wasn’t great enough, we’re spoiled for choice. Subway, The Academy, Keddies, Blends, and now McDonald’s. Doesn’t get any better than this, folks. This alone should be enough to increase the number of applicants. Never mind grade average, Maccies is where it’s at.
The new addition will begin development in late August 2017 and is set to open in spring, 2018.
Here is what one student has to say about the new addition to the Kedleston Road collection. “I think it will be a beneficial addition to the campus, especially during the stressful period of deadlines,” says Serena Dowley, third-year English, and Creative Writing student.
Not everyone is convinced, however; third-year Creative and Professional Writing student Joseph Wheeler says, “I’m more of a chicken man myself so KFC would have been better, but at least McDonald’s do chicken nuggets.” We’ll just have to change your mind, Joseph. And we will.
So now that I’ve got you positively quivering with excitement, there’s only one thing left to say…
