From 19th to 25th October various student groups came together to raise money for the Raise and Give charities of the year; Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, Mind, and War Child.
RAG Week was coordinated by the Raise and Give Committee and saw over 21 different societies and clubs organising 30 different events from the Buxton to Derby campuses.
Particular successes were the Glee society’s Sing-athon, which raised £320 and the Anime and Manga society’s 24 hour live stream and week-long Assassins game, which raised £489.76. Overall the week of events raised £2,229.70, which has increased the overall RAG total to £8,873.24.
Amy Horner, Vice-President Student Community, said:
It was brilliant to see both societies and sports clubs working together to raise money for our nominated charities. I hope this shows how easy it is to fundraise huge amounts, which will change people’s lives, and that more people get involved with charitable events in the future. I know that the RAG committee have many more exciting plans in the pipeline to keep that RAG total rising!
Although RAG Week is over, the Raise and Give committee hold and support fundraising events all year round so look out for more fundraising events in the near future. For more information please email the committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
