Located in three buildings across the University, the Student Centres are on hand to offer you information, advice and guidance to support you throughout your studies. You can find them:
- In the Atrium at Kedleston Road (next to East Tower)
- On the lower ground floor of Britannia Mill
- In the Dome at Buxton (D/G/109)
You can go to your nearest Student Centre to speak to an advisor about most issues you may come across during student life, including:
- Council tax exemption forms
- Submitting an assignment
- Help with getting a car parking permit.
Student Liaison Officers:
Student Liaison Officers (SLOs) are here to help you solve any problems you may be experiencing. They aren’t lecturers and can’t advise on your academic work, but you can talk to them about other things at University that are bothering you. In order to get an appointment with your SLO go to the Student Centre at the campus you are based at. An advisor will be able to tell you who the SLO for your programme is if you don’t know.
The friendly and experienced advisors in the Student Centres can help you with any other questions or concerns you have. Even if they don’t know the answer, they’ll be able to make sure you speak to someone who does. Whatever programme you’re on the Student Centres along with your lecturers are your first point of call. If you have any doubts about where you should go to find out the answers to your questions, get in touch.
